01
Start with the damage you can see. Check what you cannot.
A dented panel can conceal damage to mounting points, door mechanisms or adjacent parts. Photos support an initial discussion, but they cannot rule out hidden damage. Any repair recommendation depends on the actual condition of the vehicle.
- Photograph the whole side or end of the van, then the damaged area.
- Mention warning lights, fluid leaks, loose parts and doors that do not close.
- Do not drive a van you suspect is unsafe; discuss transport before making arrangements.
02
Repair first, replace when the assessment calls for it.
Suitable body panels may be repairable. If replacement is required, compatibility, condition and safety determine whether a genuine reclaimed OEM part is an option. Structural or safety-critical damage may need new parts or a different repair approach.
03
Compare equivalent repair scopes, not headline prices.
When comparing a main-dealer quote, check that both estimates include the same panels, parts, paint preparation, fittings and VAT. A lower price means little if it leaves out necessary work. The scope and price must be agreed before repairs begin.
