Establish what layer has been damaged.
A superficial mark in the finish differs from missing colour, exposed metal or peeling paint. Polishing is not a replacement for missing paint, and repainting over an unsuitable surface does not resolve the underlying condition. Provide daylight photos of the whole panel and close-ups, and mention corrosion or previous repairs.
Preparation determines the starting scope.
Cleaning, addressing the damaged surface, access and suitable preparation are part of the repair decision. Trim or fittings may need attention before the surface can be refinished. Two estimates that both mention paint can still cover different work; ask how the panel is being prepared and which areas are included.
Ask about matching and any blending.
The paint code identifies useful specification information, but age, finish variation and previous refinishing can affect the matching approach. Ask whether adjacent blending is proposed and how it is represented in the estimate. A quote for one affected area is not automatically equivalent to one that includes neighbouring panels.
Signwriting and wraps need separate agreement.
Applied graphics can cross the damaged area or restrict access. Tell the bodyshop what is fitted and whether a previous wrap has been removed. Agree any removal and replacement arrangements explicitly; do not assume that restoring paint includes recreating a business logo or a complete vehicle wrap.
What changes the cost of a full van respray?
A larger or high-roof van has more surface to prepare and paint. Dents, peeling paint, corrosion or earlier repairs may need attention first. The desired colour and finish, roof coverage, door shuts and edges, trim access and graphics removal can also change the scope. Tell the bodyshop what you want included rather than assuming every full-respray quote covers the same areas.
Request a van respray price for the actual vehicle.
Send the registration, body size, overall photos, current colour and desired finish. Ask for an inspection where surface condition cannot be established from photos. VanClinic quotes individually; this guide does not invent a universal full-respray price or a starting figure that excludes necessary preparation. Confirm the coverage, provisional items and final agreed price before booking.
